Schleier Waterfall circuit

Schleier Waterfall circuit

Schleier Waterfall circuit

Description

This tour starts at the bathing lake in Going which is fed by the springs of the Wilder Kaiser. It’s also a great place to cool down after this hiking tour. Follow the signs to “Schleierwasserfall” and you’ll come to the Aschingerkapelle and the Hüttling hiking starting point. Give yourself some time here and have a look at the small chapel, also from inside, and fill your water bottle with fresh Kaiser water from the fountain next door. The forest road now takes you towards the Wilder Kaiser. When you come to the “Fußweg-Wasserfall-Graspoint” intersection, the trail leads you across Alpine pastures and forest and, after about 20 minutes, you continue on the forest road. A narrow path, which requires a certain degree of surefootedness, now brings you to the Schleier Waterfall, a paradise for climbers. Here the waterfall trickles down over the overhanging rock faces, creating a magnificent natural stage set. This is the perfect place for your holiday photo. But the climbers also feel very much at home on the demanding rocks and are constantly looking for new challenges. You might even come across the “Huber Buam” here, a pair of famous extreme climbers. You carry on past the overhanging rocks heading towards the Stiegenbach Waterfall. From there a path takes you through Alpine meadows and forest to the Graspoint-Niederalm refreshment stop (1,075 m) where you can take a well earned break. You’ll not only be rewarded with panoramic views of the Kitzbüheler Alps, but Sabine the landlady will also offer you a traditional alpine snack. Suitably fortified, you then hike downhill along the forest road till you come to Aschingerkapelle. From here the road takes you back to the village and your starting point.

Please note:
hiking trail no. 822 (Mittlerer Höhenweg) between the Schleier Waterfall and the Stiegenbach Waterfall is closed until further notice and without exception due to a massive rock fall and serious danger of further rock falls!

Alternative routes for Adlerweg hikers:
from the Schleier Waterfall head north over the ladder onto trail no. 824 and via the Graspoint-Hochalm to the Obere Regalm mountain hut
; from the Schleier Waterfall head south on trail no. 818 as far as the first fork in the forest road - here keep heading northwest across the Alpine meadow to the Stiegenbach Waterfall
