What to do in an emergency?

Safety in the mountains is the be-all and end-all. Time and again, mountain sports enthusiasts are surprised by a sudden thunderstorm or other forces of nature or are injured and are spontaneously faced with the question: "What is the Alpine emergency number?"

No emergency call is possible without a network and in the radio shadow. Switch to a better location and dial 112 regularly. With the European emergency call, you have access to any available network if 112 is entered instead of the PIN code after switching on or an emergency call is made using the SOS emergency call function.

• State the location of the accident, the number of casualties, the circumstances of the accident and a call-back number.
• Answer the emergency call expert's questions - stay calm.
• The emergency services will be alerted during the call.

Smartphone users should install the free "SOS-EU-ALP" app BEFORE the tour and start the test run. It helps you to send an emergency call and simultaneously transmits your own location via GPS data as well as the GPS retrieval time, battery status of the smartphone and altitude and contact details.
