Important information

How do I best ascend the Hohe Salve mountain?

The Hohe Salve is accessible from two villages: Söll and Hopfgarten. Both feature a cable car to the summit at 1,829 m. The cable cars are pram and wheelchair accessible. Please note that in Söll and Hopfgarten you have to change the cable car once at the middle station. The gondolas are only a few metres apart.

How much does it cost to visit the Hohe Salve?

You are of course welcome to hike to the summit of the Hohe Salve mountain. Those who prefer a more comfortable option can ascend with one of the cable cars. SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental tariffs apply.

What's it like at the summit?

The Salvenkirchlein chapel, which was first documented to 1589, is located at the summit of the Hohe Salve. A visit to Austria's highest pilgrimage church on the Hohe Salve mountain can be easily combined with a hike in the Wilder Kaiser region. You can, for example, hike from the Hexenwasser in Söll to the summit via the Filzalmsee lake in Brixen and then take the cable car back to Hochsöll and the Witches' Water.

The Sonnenweg trail around the summit leads to 15 stations that playfully explain the history of timekeeping and the position of the sun at different times of the day and year. As the wind also plays a major role in the mountains, the Hohe Salve mountain’s wind harp invites all hikers to linger and have a listen.
