What is impressive today, first and foremost a beautiful spectacle, was originally a symbol of resistance. In the year 1796 French troops under Napoleon I. threatened the province of Tyrol, the Estates petitioned the divine assistance of the "Sacred Heart" against the invaders. As a sign of the Alliance of Tyrol and the common struggle for the beginning of time they kindled the religious motives of the ridge, and vowed to celebrate the annual feast of the Sacred Heart. Until today they keep their promise.
This event will be repeated on the following dates.
