Exhibition - “Filmdorf Ellmau” Fridays

Description

"Film Village Ellmau" from the Edelweiß King to the Mountain Doctor

Exhibition at the Local Museum from June 27 to July 25, 2025
with photographic treasures & film history from the Wilder Kaiser

Not only has the popular TV series "The Mountain Doctor" been filmed at the Wilder Kaiser since 2007, but as early as 1938, Ellmau provided an impressive film backdrop with the Kaiser Mountains for the adaptation of Ludwig Ganghofer's story "The Edelweiß King". This was followed by other local films featuring love dramas and mountain adventures, such as the feature film "VIOLANTA," made here in 1942, in which Georg Gogl, the then innkeeper of Gasthof Au, participated as an extra with his horse and carriage and received 15 unique photos from the filming as a keepsake. His daughter, Erna Kopp, will talk about the photos and their story during the opening. These and other recordings of film scenes in Ellmau and the Kaiser Mountains form the centerpiece of the special exhibition "Film Village Ellmau".
The exhibition will also focus on the "Mountain Doctor," which has been filmed in Ellmau for 18 seasons.

To conclude the exhibition, the entertaining feature film "Ski Instructor Cilli," which was filmed on-site in 1956, will be shown as an outdoor cinema at the museum on Friday evening, July 25, at 9:00 PM with free admission. Alongside the funny film story, Ellmau from back then is certainly the main star!

Opening hours of the exhibition:

Fridays 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM & Mondays 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM during the torchlight hike (with registration)

Admission to the exhibition and outdoor cinema is free!
