"Filmdorf Ellmau" from the Edelweißking to the Mountain Doctor

The municipality of Ellmau & TVB Wilder Kaiser/Ellmau invite you:

to the cinema open-air of "Ski Instructor Chilli," 1956 on July 25 at 9 PM at the museum

Not only the popular TV series "The Mountain Doctor" has been filmed in the Wilder Kaiser since 2007, but Ellmau already provided an impressive film backdrop with the Kaiser Mountains for the adaptation of Ludwig Ganghofer's story "The Edelweißking" in 1938. Further homeland films followed, featuring love dramas and mountain adventures, such as the feature film "VIOLANTA," shot here in 1942, where Georg Gogl, the then innkeeper of Gasthof Au, participated as an extra with his horse and carriage, and received 15 unique photos from the filming as a keepsake. His daughter Erna Kopp will share stories about the photos and their history at the opening. These and other scenes of film locations in Ellmau and the Kaiser Mountains form the centerpiece of the special exhibition "Filmdorf Ellmau."

The exhibition also focuses on the "Mountain Doctor," which has been set in Ellmau for 18 seasons. Therefore, on the opening night, hosted by Peter Moser, members of the "Mountain Doctor" family are expected, as well as Christian Ronning, who has been the production manager of the series for 19 years, and his wife Ingrid, who consistently finds special shooting locations as a location scout and, along with the TV stars, can share anecdotes from nearly twenty years of filming in our region.
To conclude the exhibition, the entertaining feature film "Ski Instructor Cilli," which was filmed on-site in 1956, will be shown as an open-air cinema at the museum on Friday evening, July 25 at 9 PM with free admission. Alongside the funny film story, surely the Ellmau of yesteryear is the main star!
