"Film Village Ellmau" from the Edelweiß King to the Mountain Doctor
The municipality of Ellmau & TVB Wilder Kaiser/Ellmau invite you:
to the open-air cinema of "Ski Instructor Cilli," 1956 on July 25 at 9 PM at the museum
Not only has the popular TV series "The Mountain Doctor" been filmed at Wilder Kaiser since 2007, but as early as 1938, Ellmau with the Kaiser Mountains provided an impressive film backdrop for the adaptation of Ludwig Ganghofer's story "The Edelweiß King." This was followed by further regional films with love dramas and mountain adventures, such as the feature film "VIOLANTA" produced here in 1942, in which Georg Gogl, the then innkeeper of Gasthof Au, participated as an extra with his horse and carriage and received 15 unique photos from the shoot as a keepsake. His daughter Erna Kopp will recount the photos and their story at the opening. These and other recordings of film scenes in Ellmau and the Kaiser Mountains form the heart of the special exhibition "Film Village Ellmau."
The exhibition also places a focus on "The Mountain Doctor," which has been filmed in Ellmau for 18 seasons.
To conclude the exhibition, the entertaining feature film "Ski Instructor Cilli," which was filmed on location in 1956, will be shown as an open-air cinema at the museum on Friday evening, July 25, at 9 PM, with free admission. Besides the amusing film story, the main actor is surely Ellmau from back then!
