With the comedy "1h22 Before the End" by Matthieu Delaporte, the Summer Theatre Kitzbühel invites you to its 24th season of performances. The production, which will be shown from July 24, 2025, in the concert hall of the State Music School Kitzbühel, combines sharp-witted humor with existential questions and quirky characters.

A quirky encounter – with unexpected consequences
Bernhard is fed up with life. No job, no love, no hope left. Just as he is about to end his existence, there’s a knock at the door. Standing before him is a stranger – stylishly dressed but with a noticeably unprofessional aura. He claims to have a task, but is clearly on the wrong floor. Bad luck for him – and especially for Bernhard.
What follows is a delightfully bizarre verbal duel about life – packed with dark humor, quick-witted dialogues, and wonderfully absurd twists. Between inappropriate comparisons, philosophical thoughts, and unsolicited life advice, the uninvited guest reveals himself as a charismatic chaos-maker with a dubious understanding of his profession, a fondness for alcohol, and – to put it mildly – little competence.
Bernhard, on the other hand: shy, somewhat lost, and carrying a lot of unused life time. He doesn’t quite understand his counterpart’s humor but tries to play along out of politeness.

In 1 hour and 22 minutes, an absurd duel unfolds that takes the audience from one punchline to the next.
This comedy is a fireworks display of punchlines – sometimes biting, sometimes melancholic, but always highly entertaining. A piece that makes the audience laugh but also think: What truly makes life worth living? A question that is answered in the most humorous way in this lively comedy.

Matthieu Delaporte is no longer a secret tip in France. Born in 1971, the author, screenwriter, and director has made a name for himself with a very distinctive style. At least since the international success of his comedy "The First Name" (Le Prénom), which premiered in 2010 at the Théâtre Édouard VII in Paris and was later successfully adapted into a film, Delaporte is considered a master of pointed dialogue. His plays make audiences laugh – often until they cry – without ever being banal.
