150 Jahre Giselabahn

150 years of the Gisela Railway

Hardly any other institution has changed our region more than the railroad. For many places, it was a great stroke of luck - it boosted their economy, especially in tourism, created jobs and improved their quality of life. Long before the invention of the car, a movement and mobility began that has lost none of its significance or attractiveness to this day. A good reason to give the “150 years of the Giselabahn” anniversary a special significance and to present an extraordinary exhibition.
The Pillersee local history association has taken on this task, looked for partners, brought the model railway enthusiasts on board and will thus present the history of the Gisela Railway in the premises of the Kulturhaus Hochfilzen from June 26 to August 17, 2025.
Display boards, exhibits, posters, stamps, book editions and an elaborate model railroad with replicas of stations and bridges will highlight the importance of the railroad line between Hallein and Wörgl at the highest point, namely in Hochfilzen at the Grießen Pass.
Opening hours will be from Thursday to Sunday from 15:00 to 19:00, admission is free, and there will be all kinds of memorabilia available at the station kiosk in the foyer.
