Museum

Built in 1555 as a small house for young knights, the building was renovated in 1898 by a master carpenter, the son of the road maker Johann Widauer, to its current state as a local museum, which we find today.

Ellmauer local history museum "Beim Wegmacher"

The Ellmau museum “Beim Wegmacher” vividly documents the village way of life and at the same time the Tyrolean contemporary history of the past centuries. Originally a miner's cottage for miners in the 16th century, a wainwright, a master weaver and finally a path maker later lived and worked in it. The simple house thus became home to various craftsmen and changed its name with them.
