Important Information

In winter, the forest path on the south bank can be difficult to walk on when there is a lot of fresh snow or a risk of black ice due to weather conditions. Suitable footwear, spikes and walking sticks are recommended.

The paved path on the north bank is easily accessible all year round.

Description

The starting point for this circular walk is on the eastern shore at Café Restaurant Seestüberl. From there, follow the paved path no. 822 along the northern shore to Goingstätt and Pension Maier, enjoying the magnificent view of the frozen lake. Shortly before Pension Maier, turn left and follow the signs towards Seestüberl (path no. 822) until you reach the forest path on the south shore. Please note: the following section is not cleared and may be difficult to pass depending on the weather conditions (black ice/fresh snow)....

Sturdy high mountaineering boots with anti-slip treaded soles (waterproof), weather-appropriate outdoor gear, sun protection, waterproofs, cold protection (hat, gloves), sufficient food and hot drinks, hiking poles (height adjustable) if required, mobile phone, plastic bag for waste, hiking map, route description and information materials (GPX track), ID card, cash

The composition of the trail varies between asphalt, forest road and forest trail. Please note: The forest path on the south bank is not maintained in winter and when there is a lot of snow this path can be difficult to walk.

Go to KaiserJet Public bus stop “Scheffau Dorf”, then ride the Hintersteiner See lake bus to “Seestüberl Strandbad”.

Heading from Wörgl, Kufstein or St. Johann on the B178 road, take the exit to Scheffau and drive through the village as you continue in the direction of the Hintersteiner See. The hiking starting point and the pay & display car park are located next to the Seestüberl restaurant on the eastern bank of the lake.
