"Filmdorf Ellmau" from the Edelweiß King to the Mountain Doctor
The municipality of Ellmau & TVB Wilder Kaiser/Ellmau invite you:
to the opening on June 27 at 7 PM in the Riedhaus Museum with Mayor Klaus Manzl & honorary guests
Not only has the popular TV series "Der Bergdoktor" been filmed at the Wilder Kaiser since 2007, but even in 1938, Ellmau provided an impressive film backdrop with the Kaiser Mountains for the adaptation of Ludwig Ganghofer's story "Der Edelweißkönig". And more Heimat films followed, featuring love dramas and mountain adventures, such as the feature film "VIOLANTA," which was made here in 1942, where Georg Gogl, the innkeeper of Gasthof Au at the time, participated as an extra with his horse and carriage and received 15 unique photos from the filming as a keepsake. His daughter Erna Kopp will tell the story behind the photos at the opening. These and other recordings of film scenes in Ellmau and the Kaiser Mountains form the centerpiece of the special exhibition "Filmdorf Ellmau".
The exhibition also places a focus on the "Bergdoktor," who has been practicing in Ellmau for 18 seasons. On the opening night, which will be moderated by Peter Moser, members of the "Bergdoktor" family are also expected, as well as Christian Ronning, the series' production manager for 19 years, and his wife Ingrid, who continually finds special filming locations as a location scout and, along with the TV stars, can share some anecdotes from nearly twenty years of filming time in our region.
To conclude the exhibition, the entertaining feature film "Skilehrer Cilli," which was filmed on-site in 1956, will be shown as an open-air cinema at the museum on Friday, July 25 at 9 PM with free admission. In addition to the funny film story, Ellmau from back then is sure to be the main star!
