Description
The Kufstein Fortress, located just above the town, is the landmark of the 20,000-inhabitant community by the green Inn. The fortress was first mentioned around 1205 AD when it was owned by the bishops of Regensburg. Gradually, the fortress became a powerful complex and has been in the possession of the city of Kufstein since 1924. With a varied program for culture and history enthusiasts, Kufstein Fortress is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Alpine region.
