Tips for your train journey

Many routes are operated jointly by Deutsche Bahn, ÖBB (Austrian Railways), and SBB (Swiss Railways). It’s worth checking your preferred route with all three providers, as this can often lead to a particularly good deal. In addition, so-called “saver fares” can be booked up to three days before your travel date. These discounted tickets are usually more widely available during the week than at weekends.

Note for families
Infants up to one day before their sixth birthday travel for free on the ÖBB Standard Ticket. After that, half price applies for children up to their 15th birthday.

Would you like to travel without your suitcase – and have it arrive with you in the Wilder Kaiser region? With the ÖBB luggage service, that’s exactly what you can do. Have your luggage picked up from home and travel by train to Kufstein, Wörgl or St. Johann in Tirol – relaxed, hassle-free and climate-friendly.
The ÖBB luggage service is available with both ÖBB tickets and Deutsche Bahn (DB) tickets.

If you’re planning to bring your bike on your summer holiday, you’ll need a special bike ticket from ÖBB (Austrian Railways). Tickets can be booked up to 6 months in advance – online, via the ÖBB app, at a ticket counter, or by calling +43 (0)5 1717.
