The Wilder Kaiser Water

Drinking water quality at the Wilder Kaiser

Living in the Wilder Kaiser region comes with many luxuries – some so familiar, they’re easy to take for granted. One of the greatest of these – and impossible to overvalue – is water. Few places offer it in such variety, clarity and abundance.

Whether it’s the rushing mountain stream where you can refill your bottle during a challenging hike, the village fountain offering a cool sip as you pass by, or the fresh, invigorating air flowing out of the nearby gorges – water is a constant companion here. And then there are the destinations shaped by it: the Schleier Waterfall, or the shimmering turquoise gem that is Hintersteinersee Lake, a natural treasure that invites you in for a swim – despite, or perhaps because of, its refreshingly cool temperature.

The magic of Wilder Kaiser water goes beyond lakes, streams and gorges. You can enjoy it straight from the tap – in your accommodation, in restaurants, and in every hotel across the region.

5 Reasons to Love the Water at the Wilder Kaiser

  • Experience the region with all your senses
  • Cut down on plastic bottles

Being in a region where the best water comes straight from the spring or tap is a true luxury. To raise awareness of this – and to show that there’s no need to buy plastic bottles from the supermarket – the Wilder Kaiser water bottle is now available for cycling and hiking.

The best part? It’s a reusable bottle that can be refilled again and again, made from bio-based plastic derived from sweet grasses. Each bottle also supports a climate protection project, helping to offset CO₂ emissions.

To encourage as many guests as possible to drink Wilder Kaiser water from reusable bottles, the Wilder Kaiser water bottles are now being handed out at selected activity programme points – and filled straight away at the nearest fountain to set a positive example. With that in mind: enjoy – and cheers!

Not at the lake, but on the mountain in Hochsöll: the Hexenwasser offers numerous water play stations, which are also great for cooling off on hot days.

Why drinking tap water is sustainable

  • Tap water saves waste: 17 billion plastic bottles are used every year in Germany alone; only 9% of these are recycled
  • Tap water saves CO2: bottled water consumes 600 times more CO2 than tap water
  • Tap water saves water: it takes 100 litres of water to produce one kilo of plastic
  • Tap water is a precious commodity: we have sufficient drinking water; in parts of Africa, women and children walk 64 times the distance to the moon every day
