The Bergdoktor Practice
Film location of the popular series 'Der Bergdoktor'
The Hinterschnabel farm was first mentioned in the village history around 1694. The former mayor of Ellmau, Johann Leitner, took over his mother's farm in 1985 and has been running it at Ellmauer Faistenbichl ever since.
Until the Bergdoktor film team became aware of the farm in 2007, the residential wing was empty as it was not connected to the electricity grid. Since the Bergdoktor has been running his film practice there, the former farmhouse parlours have been lovingly renovated and refurbished. The meadows and fields of the Hinterschnabel farm are still farmed by Hans Leitner.
The people of Ellmau are proud of their new landmark, which is now admired by around 8 million television viewers several weeks a year and whets the appetite for holidays in the Tyrolean mountains.
