“I’ve really experienced the Wilder Kaiser.”

With the Kaiserblüte – the star-shaped hike in the Wilder Kaiser – you’ll discover a new habitat in this unique mountain world every day: forest, water, rock, moorland and alpine pastures.
Every hike is a nature experience in its own right – and yet, in the evening, you’ll return to your accommodation in the valley feeling relaxed.

No need to stay in mountain huts
No hassle with luggage
But all the more memorable experiences

Thanks to the free transport service (hiking buses & KaiserJet), you can set off in comfort on challenging day hikes and discover the region’s most beautiful spots – step by step, habitat by habitat.

The Kaiserblüte is not a traditional multi-day hike.
It is an invitation to consciously experience the diversity of the Wilder Kaiser – with time to marvel, take a deep breath and simply be.

  • Every day brings a new chapter in nature.
  • Every walk is a highlight in its own right.
  • A holiday to remember.

Tip

Collect stamps & take a Kaiserblüte home with you

With the SummitLynx app, you can collect digital stamps along the six stages of the Kaiserblüte trail.
Once you’ve completed all six stages, you’ll receive the Kaiserblüte hiking pin for €3 at the Wilder Kaiser Tourist Information Centre .
And because the Kaiserblüte can continue to bloom a little longer after your hike, you’ll receive Kaiserblüte seeds for your home as a little gift – lovingly packaged by the Sheltered Workshops.
So a little piece of the Kaiserblüte can continue to grow in your home too. 🌸

You can find the exact route descriptions and maps under the individual tours – you can also download the GPX tracks from there.

There is also a Kaiserblüte brochure, which you can also pick up at the four tourist information centres.

The Kaiserblüte is a multi-day circular hike for beginners with some mountain experience and a good level of fitness. With stage lengths ranging from 8 to 18.3 km and the most challenging stage, ‘Fels’, featuring 1,030 hm, it offers easy and moderately difficult hiking and mountain trails which require sure-footedness and in some places a head for heights are required. The relevant signposts have a yellow background and feature a red dot to indicate the difficulty level. You can find photos of the route, including the key sections, under the individual stages.

Depending on snow conditions, the Kaiserblüte is accessible from June to mid-October.

Definition: Medium-difficulty (‘red’) mountain trails

Red mountain trails are often narrow and steep, and may in places be exposed. They may include short sections with fixed ropes or short stretches where it is helpful to use your hands for support. These trails should only be tackled by sure-footed and fit hill walkers with appropriate mountaineering equipment and alpine experience.

Requirements for the imperial bloom

  • Sure-footedness and a head for heights
  • Appropriate mountaineering equipment and alpine experience, as well as the physical fitness required for up to eight hours’ walking. (You will find the exact figures for elevation gain and distance per day listed for each stage.)

A ‘star-shaped hike’ works just like a star: you have a fixed starting point in the valley (your accommodation) and, from there, set off each day on a different circular walk or day trip in various directions.

You can experience a variety of landscapes without having to pack your rucksack every day or stay in a mountain hut, and thanks to the hiking buses and the KaiserJet, you can travel in comfort to the start and end points of the tours.

You can book personalised guided tours directly with Tyrolean mountain hiking guides or state-certified mountain guides from the region. This means you’ll not only be safe on your hike, but you’ll also pick up a few tips about the Kaiser Mountains.

Here you’ll find recommendations for your kit for the Kaiserblüte route. It’s important to have breathable outdoor clothing that’s suitable for all weather conditions. We recommend lightweight, quick-drying merino wool clothing that remains odour-free even after several days. Please ensure you have sufficient provisions for the day trips: muesli bars, nuts and dried fruit make a good snack between meals. You should also take enough to drink with you; a refillable water bottle is particularly recommended here.

Standard equipment:

  • Outdoor clothing suitable for the weather and the trip, including a change of clothes
  • Hiking poles (height-adjustable)
  • Food and drink (plenty to drink and a snack)
  • Mobile phone with a fully charged battery
  • ID, insurance card, cash
  • sturdy walking boots with a grippy tread
  • Sun protection (sunglasses, sun cream, lip balm, headwear)
  • Protection against the cold (hat, gloves)
  • if necessary, a climbing harness and via ferrata kit
  • First-aid kit including a thermal blanket and bivouac bag
  • Hiking map, route description and information leaflets
  • Rain protection

Mountain rescue operations are not free! By taking out mountain rescue cover in good time (e.g. . travel insurance from Europäische Reiserversicherung or as a a sponsor of the Tyrolean Mountain Rescue Service, as a member of the Alpine Club, via the ÖAMTC/ADAC, or through credit cards and private accident insurance policies), your mountain rescue costs may be covered by the insurance up to the specified limit.

Please note! Health insurance providers do not cover rescue from alpine emergencies!
