Visit to the Ellmau local history museum

The Ellmau museum ‘Beim Wegmacher’ shows the village way of life and Tyrolean contemporary history. Originally a miner's cottage from the 16th century, it later served various craftsmen, including a wainwright, master weaver and path maker. In 1898, the house was remodelled by Johann Widauer and has remained unchanged ever since. The rooms are furnished true to the original and, together with the working tools and everyday objects, show the traditions and customs of times gone by. The museum is also known for its numerous film recordings.
