Bergdoktor Actors and Their Roles
Since 2008, the hit series "Der Bergdoktor" has thrilled millions of viewers with stories about Dr Martin Gruber, his family and the people of the Wilder Kaiser. In addition to breathtaking landscape shots of the Wilder Kaiser, it is above all the actors who breathe life into the characters and make the series so special.

Hans Sigl plays Dr Martin Gruber
Hans Sigl was born in Rottenmann, Austria, in 1969. In addition to his work in film and television, he is also at home on stage as a presenter and cabaret artist, and is known for his social engagement beyond the camera. A native of Styria, he is passionate about drumming and leads a very active lifestyle.
Sigl has won the Austrian film and television award Romy for most popular series actor four times, and has twice received the German audience and media award Goldene Henne for acting.
His versatility and authenticity also shine through in his starring role as Dr Martin Gruber, a character he has played since 2008. As a compassionate doctor, he tackles both the big and small challenges of life – in his professional and personal world alike.

Heiko Ruprecht plays Hans Gruber
Heiko Ruprecht was born in Friedrichshafen in 1972. He studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and began his career at the municipal theatre in Ulm. He soon moved on to the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel, and the Schauspielhaus Bochum. He continues to appear regularly on stage.
Ruprecht made his television debut in 1997 in the crime series Derrick, followed by roles in Forsthaus Falkenau and Rosenheim Cops. He has been part of the main cast of Der Bergdoktor since 2008 and has also appeared in numerous films.
In the series, he plays Hans Gruber, brother of Dr Martin Gruber. And while the two don’t always see eye to eye, they do share custody of daughter Lilli – because, after all, family comes first. Hans also runs the Gruberhof farm together with their mother, Lisbeth.

Ronja Forcher plays Lilli Gruber
Ronja Forcher was born in Innsbruck in 1996 and is an Austrian actress and musician who has felt at home on stage since childhood. She studied at the 1st filmacademy in Vienna from 2014 to 2015 and was part of the ensemble at the Tiroler Landestheater for two years, until 2019. Since 2020, she has also been recording and releasing her own German-language music, with her debut single appearing in 2021.
The enterprising Tyrolean is also committed to social causes and serves as an ambassador for several initiatives, including RollOn Austria.
She first took on the role of Lilli Gruber – the on-screen daughter of Martin and Hans – in 2008 at the age of twelve. Since then, the once shy teenager has grown into a confident young woman who wins hearts with her natural, charming presence – including those of the audience.

Monika Baumgartner plays Lisbeth Gruber
The actress and theatre director was born in Munich in 1951. After three years of training at the Otto Falckenberg School, her first engagement took her to the National Theatre in Mannheim, where she appeared in productions such as The Threepenny Opera and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Since the late 1970s, Baumgartner has also been a familiar face in film and television. She teaches at the Bavarian Theatre Academy and still performs regularly on German stages today.
She first stepped into the role of Lisbeth Gruber in 2008 and has been a central figure in the series ever since. As the mother of Martin and Hans, and grandmother to Lilli, she is not only the head of the family, but also the one who holds the Grubers together – not always an easy task.

Mark Keller plays Dr Alexander Kahnweiler
Born in Baden-Württemberg in 1965, he first trained as a car mechanic before going on to study at the Freiburg Drama School. In the late 1980s, he was discovered as a Dean Martin impersonator on the Rudi Carrell Show. He went on to play a leading role in the series Sterne des Südens, but his big breakthrough came in 1996 when he became a fan favourite as Inspector André Fux in the TV series Alarm für Cobra 11.
Alongside his many acting roles, Mark Keller also performs as a singer. In 2022, he took part in the sixth season of The Masked Singer and finished in second place.
Since 2008, he has played Dr Alexander Kahnweiler – Martin’s “only friend” – who, as a senior physician at the Hall Clinic, assists him in treating patients. Though not always to everyone’s delight.

Natalie O'Hara plays Susanne Dreiseitl
Born in Göttingen in 1976, the actress with American roots began ballet, singing, and piano lessons as a child, and later studied at the Stage School of Music, Dance & Drama in Hamburg.
