Jubiläumssteig trail

Jubiläumssteig trail

Description

The scenic Jubiläumssteig is a very exposed, difficult mountain trail, which is largely, but not continuously, secured with steel ropes and a few footholds and two ladders - ideal for via ferrata beginners.

From the hiking starting point at the Wochenbrunner Alm mountain hut, there are two options for the approach:

via trail/path 825 towards the Gruttenhütte mountain hut
via the Gaudeamushütte mountain hut and the Klammlweg trail (812/822 and 813/824) towards the Gruttenhütte

Approach time: approx. 1.75 hours

To the east of the Gruttenhütte, follow the sign “Ellmauer Tor über Jubiläumssteig” until you reach the entrance to the Jubiläumssteig trail.
First you go downhill over rope-secured climbing sections into a gorge. After crossing the stream bed, you climb a ladder, steel ropes and an iron staircase to the highest point of the trail. Passing rock towers, the route is mostly horizontal on narrow rock bands and through a passage until the trail ends at the Ellmauer Tor junction.

Descent: Head downhill on path 812 from Ellmauer Tor in the direction of the Gaudeamushütte and continue to the Wochenbrunner Alm.

The Jubiläumssteig trail can be walked in both directions. Often snow fields can be expected until well into the summer.

Prerequisite: Surefootedness and above all a good head for heights are essential!
Recommended: HELMET, as well as a climbing harness and via ferrata set.

TIP:
Mondays - guided tour with a state-certified mountain guide.
