11er-Kaiserblick circuit

Description

You start at the Hiking info point in Ellmau village centre and hike via the Marienkapelle (St Mary’s Chapel) to the Hausberg mountain (hiking trail no. 8). At the Brenner Alm hut - last chance for refreshments for the next few hours - you branch off onto hiking trail no. 11. Follow this to the Höhenangeralm, Botenalm and Schwendteralm huts through an unspoilt natural landscape up hill and down dale across meadows, forest and along river streams to the Eibergalm hut. The panoramic trail takes you past the Tanzbodenteich pond to the Hartkaiserbahn mountain station. The Bergkaiser restaurant is a lovely place to stop for refreshments on the sun terrace. From here you take hiking trail no. 2 to the Ranhartalm mountain hut. If you fancy a bit of cheese, here’s the opportunity to taste and buy some fresh mountain cheese. Continue along hiking trail no. 7 through a beautiful spruce forest to the Hartkaiser gondola lift valley station and back to the village.

Tips and special features:
Take food and drink with you as the working mountain huts along the Elferweg do not serve food.
Important: sturdy footwear!
The total time can be shortened by around 1 hour by using the Astberglift, or by around 2.5 hours by using the Hartkaiserbahn gondola lift.

Path surface
The composition of the trail varies between road, forest road and gravel path.
Recommended equipment
Important: Take food and drink with you as the working mountain huts along the trail do not serve food! Sturdy hiking/mountaineering boots are essential.

Also: Rucksack, weather-appropriate hiking gear (breathable), a change of clothes, sun protection (sunglasses, sun cream, lip protection, headgear), waterproofs (rain jacket/poncho, pocket umbrella, rucksack protector), cold protection (hat, gloves), sufficient food and drink, hiking poles (height adjustable) if required, first aid kit incl. rescue blanket and bivouac sack, mobile phone with fully charged battery, headlamp, plastic bag for waste, hiking map, route description and information materials (GPX track), ID, insurance card, cash.

Arrival by car
Heading from Wörgl or Kufstein on the B178 road, take the first exit to Ellmau and then take the first exit at the roundabout. Drive along the bypass, then turn towards the centre of Ellmau when you reach the end (between MPreis and the Sporthotel). Continue straight on until you see the Tourist Info on the right-hand side (short-stay parking zone). The hiking starting point is located opposite this on the left-hand side. Heading from St. Johann on the B178 road, take the first exit to Ellmau and drive straight on through the town until you see the Tourist Info on the right-hand side (short-stay parking zone). The hiking starting point is located opposite this on the left-hand side.
