The Tiroler Bergwacht is a public corporation established by state law. More than 1300 members of the mountain rescue service, who serve in more than 90 locations throughout the state, support the district administrative authorities daily as their auxiliary bodies in the enforcement of various state laws. In addition, mountain guards help in search and rescue operations, sometimes provide stewards, road and rescue services and take part in actions of the Tyrolean provincial government.
