(1) Ski resort

Due to the area’s topography - Alpine meadows mostly below the tree line - the SkiWelt is an insanely large, varied and safe ski resort even during the current snow conditions

The open slopes and lifts are secured and constantly inspected by the cable cars and lifts staff. There is no danger of avalanches on all open lifts and slopes.

(3) Getting here - general information

Tips for getting here by train

  • Check whether sections of your booked journey may be inaccessible.
  • Book a train shuttle at least 72 hours before arrival that will take you directly from Kufstein train station to your accommodation.
  • Ask your landlord if he/she could send you your Wilder Kaiser GuestCard already in advance per e-mail, so that you can use the bus connection from the surrounding railway stations to the region at no cost.

Tips for getting here by car

  • A Vignette toll sticker is required on Austria's motorways. Buy a digital Vignette from home and save yourself unnecessary waiting time at the petrol station. Important information: the section from the state border to exit Kufstein Süd will be toll-free from 15 December 2019!
  • The Eibergstraße (B 173) road between Kufstein and Söll can be difficult to drive on during heavy snowfall. TIP: Take the B 178 via Wörgl.
  • Prior to your arrival, ask your accommodation provider or us whether your accommodation is in the valley or on the mountain (snow chains may be required).
  • The Wilder Kaiser region can be reached from several directions and is therefore accessible in all weather conditions (no pass roads or the like)
  • Before departure, check the current traffic status, plan in sufficient time, and pack supplies (food and drink).
  • Avoid rush hours! There is increased traffic every Saturday/Sunday from 9 to 11 am and daily from 4 to 6 pm.

Weather forecast

The Wilder Kaiser region is embedded between the Northern Kitzbühel Alps and the 14-kilometre-long massif of the Wilder Kaiser in the Tyrolean Unterland. The Central European continental climate ensures moderate temperatures with normal sunshine duration and snowy winters. In summer, temperatures are mostly pleasantly warm with ideal hiking, bathing and cycling weather. The high oxygen content in the air ensures a fresh, spicy mountain air. We also recommend the off season in September and October, when the golden autumn brings wonderful days with a uniquely far view in the region around Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll.
