Hiking Seal of Quality for the Wilder Kaiser

Quality assurance for hiking in Austria

The Wilder Kaiser region is the first alpine region in Austria entitled to carry the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality. In the process the "Association of quality assurance for hiking in Austria" took a close look at the villages, the accommodation and the walking paths of the region. The whole hiking experience is assessed under the heading "The magic of walking". The Wilder Kaiser region offers "The strongest mountain experience in the Alps" - in scope, diversity and impressions. In this the hiking villages of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll uphold their village philosophies and represent: "Söll erfrischt" Söll refreshes, in Scheffau in Tyrol water plays a large role, in Going it is Tradition, for example on the Kapellenweg trail, and Ellmau scores with multifacetted mountain experience and themed walks.

Wilder Kaiser hiking villages and hiking specialists

In each of the four Wilder Kaiser villages a specific walking path has been awarded the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality. In Ellmau the 13 kilometre long Panoramaweg leads from the top station of the Hartkaiserbahn over alpine pastures and through the native mountain forest to Hochsöll, with a view of the Wilder Kaiser the whole way. No less than three mountain adventure parks lie along the award winning path - Ellmi's Zauberwelt, the KaiserWelt Scheffau and the well known Hexenwasser. In Söll, in line with its motto "Söll refreshes" the Söller Sinnesrunde (Söll senses circuit) has been awarded the hiking Seal of Quality.

The natural beauty of this Kaiser parish can be admired from every direction all the way along the 22 km long circular path, the "Rundweg". The village centre of Going is characterised by five proud flower bedecked farmhouses. The village square, famed from the television series "Der Bergdoktor", is the start of an award winning 9 kilometre long circular path to the Schleierwasserfall and numerous little moors with descriptive names like Windwehenmoos (Wind breezing moor) or Steinbichlwaldmoor (Stony hill moor).

The Wilder Kaiser hiking specialists are hotels and guesthouses who have their walking specific holiday offers approved with the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality. The facilities for hikers are rounded off with the "KaiserJet" free bus and the Wilder Kaiser GuestCard which has 15 free half and full day guided hikes per week.
