Diverse paths, gentle forest floors and the powerful Maukspitze always in view
Route: Gasteig - Going
Kaiserkrone - stage 5
Follow the signs for the Niederkaiserkamm from Gasteig. First, you will hike on the forest path no. 8 through the forest; stay left at the fork and pass the Rodelhütte. Continue South across meadows and past the Bacheralm, always towards Niederkaiserkamm. Just before the Metzgeralm, hike further southwards (Niederkaiserkamm) on the forest path. After a few bends, the path branches off to the right (to path 819). Hike uphill through the cool forest until you reach the Wilder Kaiser path 823, which you then follow westwards towards Kaiseralmen. After a passage secured with steel ropes and iron brackets, the path will take you to the Ursulakreuz. Enjoy the view of the Kitzbühel Alps with the Kitzbühel Horn and the Maukspitze.
Hike across a few steps downwards along the Wilder Kaiser path and then back upwards to the Gscheuerkopf (1,280 m), from where the path continues partially exposed and secured with steel ropes and iron brackets across wonderfully soft forest floor to a gentle mountain meadow landscape. Follow the forest path and later the 819/824 path, past the Einödalm and the Kaiser Niederalm, in Southwest direction towards the Granderalm. None of the mountain meadows named have cottages. The route continues on the 819/824 path north of the "Schleierwasserfall" past the Graspoint Hochalm, with wonderful views of the Ackerl- and Maukspitze. Now you can take the branch leading South onto the 817 path and return to the valley and your starting point in Going via the Graspoint Niederalm.
Take along enough food for this leg!
