Impressive views from the "Kaiser" to the Chiemsee!
Route: Stripsenjochhaus – Gasteig
The Stripsenjochhaus will reward you with bright colours at sunrise as well! The 82/825a path will take you North across a pine-grown ridge. Stay left at the branch Feldberg/Stripsenkopf towards the Stripsenkopf. There will be a short rope-secured passage with a few iron brackets as stepping aids. At the next branch (fixed-rope route/winter path), stay right on the regular 825 path. The Stripsenkopf vantage pavilion (1,807 m) can be seen from the exit. From here, you can enjoy the summits and rock walls of the Wilder Kaiser in their full splendour! When the sky is clear, you can even see the Chiemsee to the North, the Loferer and Leoganger Steinberge to the South and the Karwendel to the West. Continue on along a ridge with great views, first downhill and past the "Frankenländer Nadel", across the Wiesensattel (1,627 m) and then upwards again across the Tristecken (1,710 m) to the Feldberggipfel (1,813 m). From here, you will have a fascinating view of the Ellmauer Tor from the North. The 825 path will continue on to the Obere Scheibenbichlalm, from where you will continue along the forest street 76 and partially on path 20 (shortcuts across meadows and through the forest), down to the nature preserve Kaiserbachtal. Once you reach the asphalted road, hike eastwards. If the water is low, you can cross the brook after approx. 100 m and hike towards Griesenau on the forest path 801. If the water level is high, just follow the asphalt road, pass the toll station and continue on to Griesenau. The Gasthof Griesenau offers its excellent trout and rooms with a view of the inn's water lily pond to hungry and tired hikers. If you still have energy to continue on to the leg's destination, turn right before the Kössener Straße at the first house and hike South towards Gasteig (approx. 1-1 ½ h) along the forest path following the Engelbach. Stay left at the first branch. The path will take you through the forest across several wooden bridges and back to the forest street, which you will follow Southeast to Gasteig, where several overnight accommodations are offered. Take along enough food and drink for this leg!
