Route: Hintersteiner See - Scheffau Village
Behind the Pension Maier, the forest path 45 leads up to the Walleralm, a mountain meadow hamlet at the foot of the Zettenkaiserkopf, at a moderate rise from the parking place (subject to fees). A brief climb up to the Kreuzbichl will be rewarded with wonderful views. You can also enjoy refreshments at the Walleralm. From the Walleralm, turn onto the Jagersteig 823 (Wilder Kaiser path) and hike South-East mostly through cool forests and across clearings with a view of the Hintersteiner See to the Steiner Hochalm (1,257 m) and then on through the Steiner Niederalm to the Hinterschießlingalm (1,020 m). Enjoy the quiet at the foot of the Scheffauer, the fantastic view of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Salve and let the Steiner family serve you specialties from their farm's own Angus cattle. Continue on through the exciting Rehbachklamm with bridges, waterfalls and a cave in an old mine to Scheffau in the valley. The free hiking and bathing bus "KaiserJet" will return you to the starting point in Going. For the schedule, see the stop above the information office or here.
