Kaiserschützen fixed-rope route

Onto the Ellmauer Halt in the North 2,344 m

The Kaiserschützen fixed-rope route with difficulty B/C was developed in 1987, under the management of the army mountain guide Josef Hangl, in memory of the victims of the first and second world wars. It is particularly characterized by its length and beautiful landscape. Diversity between the sections secured with steel ropes is ensured by walking passages that require good balance, freeness of vertigo and alpine experience. You can climb down to the Rote-Rinn-Scharte via the Gamsängersteig and then return to the Hans-Berger-Haus or continue on across the Gamsängersteig to the Gruttenhütte in Ellmau. You can reach the entrance from the Hans-Berger-Haus in the Kaisertal in approx. 1.5 hours. Good balance and freeness of vertigo are prerequisites! Climbing harness, fixed-rope route set & helmet required!
