Multerkarwand (Mutterkarwand) climbing crag

The Multerkarwand (also known Mutterkarwand) is at the foot of the Treffauer rockface. The Multerkarwand is approximately 30 minutes walk from the remains of the Wegscheidalm (unfortunately it was destroyed by an avalanche in January 2012).Recommended equipment: 50m of double rope, 14 runners, helmet.

First ascent: Marcus Sappl, mostly with Hans Zott and the team of the former Wegscheidalm.

Hike to the rockface: Hike up from the Gasthof Jägerwirt (car park) over the Wegscheidalm towards the Treffauer. Quite a bit below the waterfall you come across the "Wilder Kaiser Steig" (interconnection to the Gruttenhütte). From there to the right of the mountain pines over the scree field to the foot of the Treffauer rockface. Cross under the wall left to the entry points.Arrival: From Kufstein, Wörgl or St. Johann to Scheffau. In the village centre turn right towards the Gasthaus Jägerwirt and park just before it.Best time of year: June to November
