Festplatz Brunnhoffeld Söll Söll
The Almabtrieb takes place each year at the end of September. Cows are festively decorated early in the morning as a symbol of thanks for an accident-free summer on the mountain pastures. Local farmers and producers of fresh produce such as cheese, bacon and bread, lead the cattle past the alpine restaurant Hochsöll all the way down to the valley. At approximately noon, the cows start arriving in the village accompanied by the sounds of a brass band. The journey from the mountain down to the village is then celebrated before the cows make their way to their winter home - the stables. At market stands you can find homemade tyrolean specialities such as Krapfen, fresh milk, cheese, farmer’s bacon and fresh bread. If experiencing a traditional festival is your thing, then it’s hard to find anything better than the Almabtrieb.
Between noon and 3:30pm the decorated cows make their way through the village on route to their home stables.
