Description

Heading from the Griesner Alm, the approach (988 m) takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.

The Eggersteig trail (partly secured with steel ropes) leads from the north through the Steinerne Rinne cirque to the imposing Ellmauer Tor rock saddle. Enjoy a close-up experience of the powerful rock faces of the Fleischbank and Predigtstuhl mountains, taking in the fantastic view from the Ellmauer Tor as you look south over the main ridge of the Alps.
Tip: additional ascent to the Hintere Goinger Halt mountain at 2,192 m.

Descent: head south through the Ellmauer Tor and  through the Kübelkar cirque to the Gaudeamushütte mountain hut, continuing on to the Wochenbrunner Alm. You can also head across the delightful countryside on the Jubiläumssteig trail to reach the Gruttenhütte mountain hut and on to Wochenbrunner Alm.

Requirements: a good head for heights and surefootedness; HELMET for protection against rock fall
Recommended: climbing harness and via ferrata set for inexperienced climbers
A securing rope should also be used for children.
Eggersteig trail difficulty: A/B
