The Wilder Kaiser region’s

coronavirus safety concept

Protection and prevention

  • Only those who are Vaccinated or Recovered (VR/"2G rule") may access restaurants, hotels, cable cars, recreational facilities and events.
  • FFP-2 masks are compulsory in shops, in customer areas and in public transport.
  • The hygiene and safety concepts of the cable cars, restaurants and events have been officially approved.
  • Gondolas, rental equipment, key cards, buses and similar are sanitised on a daily basis

Safety first

  • The "green passport" for smooth 2-G controls is valid throughout the EU
  • "Digital visitors' book" (registration for contact tracing) in restaurants, at Kaiserbad Ellmau and many other locations
  • Internationally compatible Stop Coronavirus app issued by the Austrian Red Cross
  • Dedicated regional Covid-19 official
  • Nine licensed doctors, two pharmacies and two hospitals in the immediate vicinity, open seven days a week, including night and weekend service.
  • Proximity to border: just 30 minutes by car to the German border
  • On the return journey to Germany, a 3G proof must be provided. Unvaccinated travelers are required to quarantine for at least 5 days. This also applies to children

Measures at the ski resorts

  • Use of large, spacious gondolas
  • The VR rule (Vaccinated or Recovered) applies in cable cars from the start of the season.
  • No mask mandate in the skiing resort
  • Online purchase of cable car tickets
  • Cable car tickets available via contactless transaction from ticket machines at the valley stations
  • Additional covered outdoor seating at mountain restaurants

Info for children

  • The 2G rule applies to children from age 12.
  • Austrian children and young people between the ages of 12 and 15 can show their ninja pass as proof of 2G. Similar evidence from other countries is not valid.
  • The FFP2 mask is compulsory for children aged 14 and over. Children between the ages of 7 and 14 do not have to wear an FFP2 mask but must wear a mouth-nose protection. Children up to 6 years of age are completely exempt from the mask requirement.
