The Ellmau stone circle is located directly along the Eagle’s Trail. From there everyone can take their own, energetically charged lucky stone back home.
The place for the symbol of stones was discovered by chance by a diviner. He was actually looking for an attraction for hikers along the Eagle’s Trail. The plan was to place two stones in such a way as to resemble an egg – as a symbol for the starting point of this long-distance hiking trail. The diviner found this special place that was perfect for forming a stone circle; and this is exactly what happened.
Several times during the summer the Wilder Kaiser tourist board offers guided hikes to this mythical place, which is a 30-minute hike above Wochenbrunner Alm at an altitude of 1150 metres. Right after breakfast the hike starts at the Ellmau tourist information office. From there a small underpass to the 27-hole Wilder Kaiser golf course is crossed. One crosses the golf course and follows Wochenbrunn trail. Of course you can also hike to the Ellmau stone circle off your own bat.

Gigantic Mandala The Ellmau stone circle is a natural force field. Four stones each symbolize the directions of the sky and the seasons; the others symbolize the twelve months of the year. In the entire force field and in every single stone plenty of “positive” radiation is constantly in effect. That is why this place is a site of contemplation, joy, meditation and peace and serves as a physical and psychological recreation area. Don’t worry: Everyone intuitively finds their stone or several stones within the circle. “On the way to the Ellmau stone circle everyone takes up a stone from the wayside. In the centre of the circle, next to the wooden cross, the stone is then energetically charged. So everyone can take their personal lucky stone back home”, explains hiking guide Peter Moser.
