Scheffau Village Evenings“ are very popular in Summer.
Scheffau is situated directly at the foot of the Wilder Kaiser. At an altitude of 752m., it is the smallest of the villages around the Kaiser with a population of 1.200.
First documented as „Skefenouwen“ in 1158, the name was then altered to „Schiefe Au“ , which is the derivation of the present day Scheffau. |

There is a real village atmosphere in Scheffau with its country charm and one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Tyrol, the
Hintersteinersee. Situated at an altitude of 882m, directly in the Wilder Kaiser nature reserve, the Hintersteinersee is a good starting point for many walks and mountain climbs. After your hike, revitalise body and soul with a refreshing dip in its crystal clear water!

Welcome to one of the largest inter connecting ski areas in Austria. Scheffau is a good point to enter the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser- Brixental.
