Wilder Kaiser region
Ellmau, Going, Scheffau, Söll
The Wilder Kaiser region is the first alpine area to bear the Austrian hiking seal of approval. The Kaiser villages of Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll in the "Kaisergebirge" nature conservation area are also a part of the biggest E-Bike region in the world - "Kitzbüheler Alps-Kaisergebirge". So even longer routes to the loveliest viewing points can be tackled well.
The 27-hole Wilder Kaiser golf course nestles spectacularly at the foot of the mountain range in Ellmau. Every week in summer there are 15 guided hikes (half and full day) and 12 variety-filled family events to get involved in - free of charge with the Wilder Kaiser guest card!
Six mountain adventure parks are great destinations for a hike or easy to get to by cable car. At Hexenwasser (Witch Water) in Hochsöll the longest barefoot trail in Austria guides you along 60 stations to experience the natural elements. The magic forest of Ellmi's Zauberwelt on the Hartkaiser and the KaiserWelt Scheffau adventure play area at the Brandstadl are also particularly popular.
Söll provides refreshment along energy trails, while Scheffau is the premier 'Kneipp für mich®' water experience village in Tyrol. During Ellmau's Hiking Week in September daily guided themed tours await outdoor enthusiasts. Ellmau and Going are both "Bergdoktor"-villages and are the territory of the well-known TV series around a mountain doctor, which is filmed here.
The Wilder Kaiser massif, which is steeped in history, is also a paradise for climbing with challenging crags such as the Schleierwasserfall and also provides famous summit tours. The Wilder Kaiser region is accessible from Germany without the need for an autoroute toll; airport cities Salzburg, Munich and Innsbruck are just an hour's drive away.
In winter the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental boasting 91 cable cars and lifts, is the biggest connected ski area in Austria and has the distinction of being one of the world's best as well.
